Research Blog 3

My teams is working on homeless teens and we are working on some research question that can help us understand the processes of making our film These Streets Are Our Home. My team will interview teens that were once homeless teens to get an ideas. My team wrote down some research questions that will help us understand more the topic. One of the question is "What are type of reasons fro these teens becoming homeless?

To help me answer my second research question i will use an article called Background Causes Of Teen Homeless. The article talks about all the reasons why there are so many homeless teens and reasons why what is the background of that reason he/she is homeless.Theres homeless teens because of the fact of Abuse,Substance Abuse in the Home,Pregnancy,Sexual Orientation,Unaffordable Housing and Mental Illness. It also says Some homeless youth have run away from homes where they were the victims of physical, sexual or emotional abuse. One study reports that more than four in ten youth report being beaten by a caretaker, and a quarter were either sexually abused or feared being sexually abused. My favorite part of this article is that it answered my teams question and it also helped my team understand why these teens are homeless.
This article relates to our film These Streets Are Our Home because its about how these homeless teens becomes homeless and why. It helped us understand and make the interviewer feel more comfortable and share how they feel about what they went through when they where homeless.

Research Blog 2

For my second research blog I will be answering my first research question with one of the best article of  The Neighborhood Files."New Community Program Helps Homeless Teens and Families in Poway"  by Annie Lane. Why does the government help out these homeless teens ?

The article talks about how school is really important for the kids especially teens. It also says that they try to help them with taking them out the streets and bring them into homes. The community witch is also the government is doing there best to help these teens for a better life. This article did answer my question "Why does the government help out these homeless teens? "By law we have to assist them" Davis said of YIT, which is funded through a grant based on the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act. This shows that the government is  involved with making this program for these teens because the government pays for everything thats need. My favorite part of this article is the information that it gives the reader and how it makes the reader also want to help the homeless teens.

Thank You The neighborhood Files for answering my question!

Homeless Teens Blog

All over the world there has been a lot of  homeless kids with out any ideas where there life will end up.  New York is one of the largest population with homeless teens.  Over the last past years the population of homeless teens has increased in NYC. 50 percent of these homeless teens are either living in shelters or in jail. Homeless teens are always dropping out of school just because they have no home and need support from the government to survive on the streets. Homelessness is something that does not discriminate against social status, financial status or gender status. Nearly 98 percents of the homeless teens become home less because they run away from home.

I have lived in New York all my life and i been living surrounded by homeless teens. This horrible reality has been affecting out community. These homeless teens is a big impact to the community that it became part of my daily life. Serval months ago around the summer I started to realize all these teens in the street staring trouble and getting arrested because they had no home.  Everyday these teens will be in these streets and don't go to school because they where homeless. I thought there mist be reason why these teens are homeless so i diced to do research about homeless teens to learn about them. Every time I see these homeless teens it just remind me of one of my close friends that was once homeless.

For my film These Streets Are Our Home that's based on this subject I will ask:

  • Why does the government help out these homeless teens ?
  • What are type of reasons fro these teens becoming homeless?
  • Does the US approach to homeless teens and punishment work ?
  • Why is the Department Of Education being affected by these homeless teens ?
  • What would happen if the government stop helping out these homeless teens into making a impact in there life ?

The Photo Essay blog

By the end of the school year my production team, NYC Wicked Kids, will be making a film on homeless teenagers.  We will be interviewing some students at New Design High School who have been homeless before including my friend Emmanuel.  Emmanuel was homeless as a child and has lived in shelters.  His brothers and sisters were actually taken away by the state. Emmanuel now lives in the Bronx with his mother again.

I shot a photo essay of a typical day in the life of Emmanuel. One of my first pictures is him in the hallway followed by shots of him in the classroom followed by shots of him working on his future followed by the shots of him in church.

Series of 20 photos of Emmanuel from one of our interviews with him.  In the photo essay, I was able to show how much Emmanuel life has change over the years that he lived when he was homeless. This will be a better way of showing the interviewers emotions with out no words.  It can also help for making the subject more comfortable when he/she gets in front of the camera. It show every move that he make's because i was able to take a lot of different angles of him so it can show the different moods.  It shows connect with the questions that he was asked.

I would like to model this essay of one of subjects  named Emmanuel most likely about his life style.  The series captures Emmanuel life where he goes to school when he gets out of school also what are his goals for his future.  I took shoots of him while he's going to his home with his close friends and family members.  Capture some good shoots of him of how he's life has improved because of Emmanuel making good chooses.  Wish me the best so this film can turned out to be the best of all times that the  NYC Wicked Kids have filmed. Cinematography Blog

The Cinematography workshop with Ariana shows a film about a  interview about this rapper and how is childhood and how he survived he's child hood. how the cameras are used to interview the person is different then any other regular interview cause it has a lot of different effects.  When the you interview someone you don't want the camera to just be facing the interviewer face because then it makes the film boring. In the film it shows how the director edits the film should by the look and also how the director makes it so the audiences  can see that the background matches with what mood is the interviewer is feeling. The interviewer stands and he/she body structures counts in how the interviewer mood is feeling also there tone of voice.

I never knew what Cinematography was until watched that filmed that really was a great film. The film explains everything but not by words the director explains he's ideas with the effects of the film. The way this film was created was different then other films I watched before the way the director film the interviewer with different angles and sound affects. Every time the interviewer wil speak the Background music will change depending on the mood of the interviewer. The film show a lot of movements of the interviewer that caught my attention because of every move he will make also affected the type of background music.

This workshop was a really good workshop for us because it  helped us with our own film to help it look better. There is something about this film that I will like for my team to use for our film witch is to use  the sound effects and the moods changes together. This workshop was to show us different things we can put to our film to make it stand strong. Now that i worked in this workshop i can make sure that my team does the same thing to make our video the best.

Teenage teaser Blog

Teenager is one of the coolest trailer ever because it just go straight into what is the film about.  The film is about the history of teenagers.  I like how this film can catch the persons attentions  real quick because it shows so many different effects and that is what really makes a film different from other films.  You always want the person that is watching to keep there eyes on it.  That is what your film to look because the trailer is to show a sneak peek about what's your movie about so if the trailer don't catches the person eye then what makes you think that they would want to catch the movie, and that what is different about this film it makes you ask for more.  Here's The link of Teenage teaser.  It is looks to be a great film.
